From the most ordinary of ordinary

I am..
the most ordinary of the 'ordinary'...
from a category of people often called as 'common man'...

Being a common man myself, I like to imagine that in this world the 'MAJORITY' is constituted by 'ordinary' like me.
'MAJORITY' - Politicians, movies, advertisements try to capture majority's loyalty, goodwill... having the majority behind one makes one strong... leaders, managers, politicians, statesmen stand on majority's support... without majority backing them they'll just be ordinary !

Skills make a man... a man with no skills is considered worthless... skills, talent are imperative for living... (talent that can make money)
'Its always the survival of the fittest'.... hail Darwin !!
Some people are good at singing, some good at dancing, some good at theatre, some good with technology (my kin !) , some good at sports. This list is non-exhaustive... But whatever skill one possesses, there's one skill that everyone 'must' learn sooner or later in life... to live, to survive.... and that skill is -'Selling'.
No matter what skill you are good at, you have to learn to sell that and you have to be really good at it, really really good...

Sometimes I find myself helplessly visiting the so called 'deal' web-sites (when I have to do some purchasing online).... I must admit that hunting for 'good' deals is addictive... hehehe... there's one attribute common to all deals accepted as good.... 10, 20, 30...50 % off, some even better 50 %+ extra 40 %off... these deals totally promise saving !! if you.... buy !! ??#$??

Crux of every deal in plain English is -
'Buy XYZ item worth $$$$ to save $$$$$$$$$$$$'
Irrespective of knowing well enough that no product is ever sold for a loss, this deal looks so tempting. That is one fact which will exist for eternity (i hope not).
Knowing this well in advance, the ultimate effect of the 'Buy X..... save $$$$$' ad. is that it makes you blind for a while into believing that indeed its a fabulous offer !!
Save !!
'Buy' (ie spend money and ) --> 'Save' !!
ie Buying = Saving !!

Now that is a perfect example of 'great SELLING tactics'
This technique of making ad. to sell indeed 'sells'...

SELLING... one skill which every single man and woman has to learn and become apt in to make living. It doesn't matter how good you are, if you can't sell what you'r good at.

In stores products sell, in theaters, movies are sold... in stadiums... sports(men) are sold....
in IPL there was an auction of players...
( Auction of players !! = auction of human beings ?? !! human rights violation ??)

IPL season 2's auction price tag of players -

In a historical political stunt, actor-turned-into-politician, NT Ramarao (once the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh), when hard-handedly deposed during Indira Gandhi's incumbency, booked a full train to New Delhi, taking all his MLAs to establish his majority and hence his capacity to hold office...
It is rumored that the price tag on each one of these MLAs then was $30 million (thats 3 and eight zeroes following it...and in dollars !! )

Everyone has to work to make living... to earn...
somehow this equation does not sound right to me...

One fact is a fact beyond all other facts : Money....sells....best !
A person earning a $100K is definitely considered successful... beyond what he is or not.
One of the documentaries made some time back, called 'the zeitgeist' talks about 'financial system' being the backbone of contemporary society/economy/nations. It concludes with the possibility of abolishing this financial system and imagining a society without money... now thats quite a thought !!

I remember reading a novel by Robin cook during my initial exposure to novels.... (aah yes... its title was 'Abduction') It took the leading character of the novel to a world below earth's crust... in the core of earth... This world was inhabited by people who had migrated from earth's surface to below in the face of natural calamities ( when dinosaurs became extinct ) and established a new world there...
The founding principle of this new world was 'preservation of life'...
the technology developed was capable of sustaining life below earth... there was no money... people were happy... and cherished each other's happiness...

Can 'eradication of money' equate to 'solution of all problems of mankind' ??
I am inclined to think that it can...
Given there is no money... there will surely be no thiefs, no robberies... (will crime become extinct)
people would be happy to give something away to others and find happiness in it...
people will work for the sake of 'working' and progressing in terms of knowledge and what they give to the society and not for the sake of 'making money'
industries would be truely 'comsumer-oriented' as against being 'profit-oriented'...
Of course capitalism would vanish. Banks and insurance companies will go out of business :)
But then, would every effort not go in making people's life better ?
Would we not see the emergence of true artists, musicians, philosophers, thinkers ?
Would it not focus us to the need of saving mother earth... which currently seems to be driven by man to an inevitable path to apocalypse (global warming, decreasing fossil fuels)

hmmm.... is that a dream I just had with open eyes ? or is it something our children and their generations thank us for ??
well !!

Let me get back to reality :)

Sale !! Sale !! Sale !! Sale !!

  1. why would there be any industries if they're getting nothing in return?
if the answer to this question is easy,
why would someone take the effort to make something to give to someone else when it doesn't benefit him?
